Interview with Jens from Dimmz by Ove

Hello Jens, thank you so much for giving Blizz Of Rock this interview

Jens: Thank you man !!!! For having us.

First of all Jens, I’m honored to talk to the Bass player behind the great rock band Dimmz from Sweden

Jens: Yeaaah!!!! :) It's a pleasure to be talking to You!

When was the band Dimmz formed?  What is the story behind the name?

Jens: The band was formed in 2005 with only two artist left, Sonny and Andy. The name of the band was Mizery and the style was very hard with growl. But then they wanted to change the style and DimmZ was formed. Still hard music but whit rock influence. Then in December 2007 they needed a bass player and Sonny contacted me if I would learn to play bass and join them, so I bought a bass and started to learn how to play the bass. In summer 2008 our lead guitarist wanted out from the band so we started to look for a new lead guitar man and found Andreas. The name DimmZ comes from Sonnys nick when he was younger. We did not know what it meant until this autumn.

How would you describe your music?

Jens: I would call it classic rock whit a modern twist

Rumors has it that the summer 2008 something happened to Dimmz, could you tell us what?

Jens: The summer 2008 we got signed by Blue Topaz Records in Malmö Sweden and got to release our first album, "This Is Life" Our Pride and Glory

Your debut album was released in 2008 called “This is life”, how did that come about?

Jens: We record the album in 4 weekends, To keep the price down we had to speed it up a little, so it was 4 Saturday and Sundays.

How many albums have Dimmz released? When will we see another record in our collection?

Jens: Dimmz Has released 1 album "This is life", and we are on two compilations cd one in Germany called "Metal 2 metal compilation #2", and the second one "Dowtown Metal international "from quickstar productions in Canada. DimmZ is aiming for a new album sometime next year

Where may we find the albums, where could we buy the music from Dimmz?

Jens: You can buy the CD on Itunes, Ginza.se, mp3store.com. And you can also listen to the album on spotify

Have you ever been confronted with the fact that you sound like Slayer/Metallica?

Jens: No not Slayer. But we got different styles on the songs so we are hard to put in one genre. The latest was a mix between Megadeath and Metallica.

What was the first instrument you bought, Jens?

Jens: When I was 9 years old I got my first acoustic guitar from my parents, so I started taken lessons.
But the first guitar I bought to myself, was a Gibson Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty

The band is looking for a new record Label, how come?

Jens: We are looking for a bigger label so that we can get some help whit promotion and perhaps some gigs. Right now we are doing everything by ourselves.

It seem like the piracy of music, videos, games and etc. is out of control, do you have any good ideas on how to maybe solve a problem like this?

Jens: Lower the price on the goods. Make it easier to download from the internet.

Is it possible to see Dimmz live on tour?

Jens: We hope so. We are looking for places to go on tour, but when we are doing everything by ourselves, it´s hard to get all the little pieces to fall in the right places.

Any bands or artists you would love to have with you on your tour?

Jens: Well it would not be so bad with Metallica. Then we know that we will be playing in big places *hahaha*

If there was one place in the wide world that you could play Jens where would that be?

Jens: I been to Roskilde many times as a camping music lover, so it would be nice to be there as a playing artist also.

Dimmz is a rock band.  Where do you get your influence? Do you feel that Dimmz got their own style?

Jens: We take our influence from many different places and try to get it to work. *hahaha* and make it to our own uniqe sound!!!

What’s your opinion about the Rock ‘n’ roll coming back? (If it ever were gone)

Jens: Great. Finally the taboo on Rock ´n´roll is over. Now you can dress up and listen to what ever you want, and ROCK your head off!!!

How did the gig in Bedford Park (London)turn out?

Jens: It did not go very well at all. In the last minute we had to move the date, because they had not sold any tickets at all. So we are discussing a new date. We were the only band outside the UK so we could not risk the loss of money.

What sort of age group are you attracting with your music?

Jens: We hope we don´t get a special age group. We're trying to reach em all. I think everybody can listen to our music. We have listeners from 10:s till the age of 60:s

If you got the chance to have a concert in Norway, what could we expect from Dimmz?

Jens: You could expect nothing but pure positive energy, that you could take with you for a lifetime....

Do you know any Norwegian bands?

Jens: I´m not so good on Norwegian bands that plays today. I know A-HA and Åge Aleksandersen * ha ha * Or aha

A-ha

Any instruments you would love to learn how to play, that you don’t?

Jens: Maybe Drums, But I can´t get my hands and feet to work in separate ways :)

Would you like Blizz of Rock Radio to play your music?

Jens: Hell Yeah!!! We would be honor!!!!!!!!

Is there a funny story you could share with us?

Jens: Here comes a  nasty one though,. Most be the last gig when our drummer comes up to our singer in nothing but his underwear, then he turns the back against him and slides the underwear to the side and let one ripp in Sonnys face :) before the gig...none of us have recovered from that one yet!!! : )

If you could turn back the time and choose a new date to start a band, when would that be? And why this year/decade?

Jens: I think now is a great time actually because the Rock 'n' Roll is back.........

What is the highlight of your career as rock musician?

Jens: Right now the release of our cd "This is life", we will have a new album is comin' very soon, we have recieved great reviews from all over the world, (Thanks to Blizz Of Rock by the way) and all the airplay we have got all over the world..

Jens: Many. James Hatfield would be nice. The swedish artist Thåström.

James Hatfield Thåström

If the band received 100.000$, and had to give it to a good cause, what or who would that be?

Jens: It would go to starving kids, and stop child abuse

What is your opinion about Blizz Of Rock? (www.blizzofrock.com)

Jens: A great radio station, that helps indie artists to get their music on the air. Blizz Of Rock makes it easier for people to get to know the artists.
